Our Journey
Our founder, Billy Richmond Jr., began perfecting the art of the hot wing at the young age of 9 years old. He learned the basics of delivering quality service and food from his father, Billy Richmond Sr., who continues to serve the Memphis community for over 20 years now. After pursuing his passion for basketball, both in the collegiate (Vanderbilt Univ. and the Univ. of Memphis) and pro circuits (Overseas), he returned home to Memphis. In 2012 the first Wing Guru location was opened. It exceeded expectations early on by winning the Orange Park statewide hot wing festival Grand Championship out of Florida.
In 2016 The Wing Guru won most creative sauce for the now world - famous honey suicide sauce at the Santa Anita hot wing cook-off. That same year The Wing Guru was named the #6 hot wing restaurant by wing experts. In 2017, The Wing Guru became the official chicken wing partner of The University of Memphis. They have expanded through the years with over 5 locations and plans for several more!
The Wing Guru's menu offers 21 flavors of wings including the world-famous honey suicide, garlic sriracha, lemon pepper hot, and the triple j which was developed in partnership with Memphis Grizzlies Power Forward/ Center Jaren Jackson Jr.
